Trusting God often means releasing the need to control every outcome. It’s a surrender of our plans, fears, and what we think should happen, knowing that God’s understanding and ways are higher than ours. When we choose trust, we invite peace into situations that could otherwise overwhelm us.
Sunday Evening Worship Service
Having true rest in Jesus is about finding peace and solace for our weary souls amid life’s challenges and burdens. Unlike temporary relief from the pressures of life, the rest Jesus offers is profound and lasting, rooted in His love, grace, and finished work on the cross.
Moses’ sin of striking the rock instead of speaking to it, as commanded by God, is recorded in Numbers 20:7-12. The Israelites were in the wilderness, facing severe thirst, and they complained bitterly. God instructed Moses to speak to the rock at Meribah, promising it would yield water. However, in frustration, Moses struck the rock twice with his staff, saying, “Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock?” (Numbers 20:10, KJV). Though water did flow, God rebuked Moses and Aaron for their lack of faith and failure to sanctify Him before the people.

The passing of authority from Elijah to Elisha represents the continuation of God’s prophetic work in Israel. Elisha’s request for a double portion of Elijah’s spirit is fulfilled, as he goes on to perform many miracles, even more than Elijah did. This story also highlights themes of loyalty, faith, and the continuation of divine mission through chosen leaders.
