Mark 2:1-3
Jesus had been traveling and performing miracles, which gained him widespread attention. This passage is set in Capernaum, a city on the northern shore of the Sea of Galilee, which became something of a home base for Jesus’ ministry. After performing miracles and teaching in other towns, he returns to Capernaum, possibly to rest or spend time with his close followers. However, word spreads quickly that he is back, and people gather in large numbers, filling the house and even blocking the doorway, all eager to hear him teach.

The Call of Moses
God instructed Moses to go to Pharaoh and demand the release of His people. Moses, feeling unqualified and fearful, offered several objections, expressing doubts about his own abilities and about whether the Israelites would believe him. In response, God reassured Moses, revealing His name, “I AM THAT I AM” (Exodus 3:14, KJV), and equipping him with signs, such as turning his staff into a serpent and his hand leprous, to prove God’s power.
