By Pastor Chris Parker – Acts 28
The closing of Acts 28 marks a significant moment in the history of the early church, reflecting the ongoing ministry of the Gospel and its connection to church planting. As Paul arrives in Rome under house arrest, he continues to preach the Gospel boldly and without hindrance (Acts 28:30-31). This chapter signifies that, despite opposition, persecution, and obstacles, the mission of spreading the Gospel and establishing new churches continued unabated.
Paul’s ministry in Rome, the heart of the Roman Empire, emphasizes the fulfillment of the Great Commission as the Gospel reached the center of the known world. His work inspired future church leaders and missionaries to continue planting churches in new regions, demonstrating that the mission was far from complete with the close of Acts. Instead, it highlights the ongoing work of the church in every generation to advance the Gospel and establish communities of believers worldwide. The open-ended nature of Acts suggests that the story of church planting and Gospel proclamation is ongoing and continues through the efforts of believers today.
